If not cared for properly, septic system can fail. A failed septic system can result in a smelly yard, costly repairs, and pollution to local waterways, as well as health risks. Untreated sewage that leaks into groundwater, drinking water, streams, and ultimately the marine waters of Puget Sound, is a hazard. What to look for:

  • Bad odors around the drainfield area
  • Very wet spots with excessively lush green grass growth over septic areas
  • Standing water in the drainfield area
  • Plumbing or septic tank back-ups
  • Slow draining fixtures
  • Gurgling sounds in the plumbing system

It is essential to maintain a septic system and the drainfield that supports it.
