Motor oil is a pollution problems in our streams, rivers and lakes. Oil doesn’t dissolve in water, which means it sticks around for a long time. It’s toxic to people, wildlife and plants.
Vehicles contribute to stormwater pollution that ends up in our local lakes, streams and Puget Sound. Motor oil on the road can also impair driver safety.
IT ALL ADDS UP:
Regularly maintain your vehicle and be on the lookout for leaks. If you spot drips coming from your vehicle, use cardboard to catch the drips until you can get them fixed. Be sure to dispose of drip-stained cardboard in the trash, not the recycling bin.
